Platinum Studios, an entertainment company known for comic-book-to-film adaptations, is home to a growing library of over
1,000 comics characters that have appeared in more than 100 million comics and over twenty languages worldwide, creating a
global franchise encompassing the full range of worldwide film, television, multimedia, licensing, and merchandising.
Headquartered in Beverly Hills, California, Platinum Studios was founded in 1997 by chairman Scott Mitchell Rosenberg. The founder of Malibu Comics, Rosenberg published the comic book Men In Black, which he took to Sony to become a billion-dollar franchise. Platinum Studios has an exciting slate of high-profile feature films and television series based on current and upcoming comic books, including Jeremiah, based on the long-running European graphic novel series, with MGM and Showtime; Unique, an interdimensional science fiction adventure based on the upcoming Platinum Studios graphic novel, at Touchstone; Cowboys & Aliens, based on an upcoming Platinum Studios graphic novel created by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, at Sony; Mal Chance, a blend of Hong Kong action and romantic comedy based on a Spanish comic book, at Miramax; Nathan Never, a futuristic buddy/action film based on the popular Italian comic book, with DreamWorks SKG; and Prime, based on the Malibu comic book, at Universal. Platinum has also launched its Platinum Animation line to develop projects for TV and feature animation, and signed a first-look deal with Walt Disney TV Animation. Platinum recently entered the interactive gaming world, signing an exclusive deal with military expert Col. John B. Alexander (technical advisor to Tom Clancy and Michael Crichton) and A-list game designers Blue Shift and Handheld, Inc. to create graphic novels and games based on Alexander's scenarios and expertise, which Platinum will develop for film and television. |
