The Long Road: Episode 1 & 2
Teleplay By: J. Michael Straczynski
Directed By: Russell Mulcahy
JEREMIAH is a thought-provoking drama that postulates a future in which everyone over the age of puberty has died. For 15 years, the survivors have been living on the scraps of their parent's world. As the scraps run out, the young adults face a decision. Do they fight each other to the death for what is left, or start building a new world together?

It is the year 2021. Jeremiah is a loner who writes, then burns, letters to his father as a way of dealing with grief and guilt as he wanders a desperate city. Casual sex, casual drunkenness and casual murder are just part of life in a place devoid of hope. But Jeremiah has one hope, to find his way to a place his father called Valhalla Sector.

Alone in open country at last, Jeremiah finds some peace. He also finds Kurdy, another loner. Like Jeremiah, Kurdy is looking for something, although he cannot say what it is. The two form an unlikely alliance and make their way to a small town controlled by Theo, a young woman who achieved power through good looks, a quick mind and a ruthless nature. Theo is determined to find The End of the World - a place, she says, where the 'old world' still works. They are inclined to think it is just a rumor until Jeremiah finds himself held prisoner with Simon, another newcomer. Kurdy frees them but Simon is fatally injured. Before he dies, he gives Jeremiah a map, an entry key, and a message. Despite Kurdy's misgivings, they follow the map and find the End of the World. When the leader of the group, Markus Alexander, asks them to take up where Simon left off, Jeremiah and Kurdy know they may have found part of what they are looking for.
