Is there any truth to the saying: keep your friends close, and your enemies closer? Do you have enemies? Do you have more friends than enemies?
Do I have enemies? Oh yeah. A few. Do you want them alphabetically or in order of who wants to kill me first? Okay, well, beat up then kill me.
Doesn't seem like any of these guys will just shoot you outright, you know? First they've gotta let you know who's boss. Exercise a little megalomania
and blood lust, just to set an example for anyone else who might piss them off. I’m pretty good at that. Pissing people off, I mean. Just ask
Kurdy, though I don't think he'd ever actually kill me. Not without damned good reason, anyway.
I understand the adage, you know. About keeping your enemies close. I'm not sure it's very sound advice. Keeping an eye on your enemies is one
thing. Where I'm from, it's a necessity. If the Alliance is ever going to stop Daniel and his forces, it's got to know where they are and what
they're doing. But I wouldn't invite them to dinner or jump in bed with any of them. I've got a problem with maybe waking up some day to find
a knife in the ribs, you know? I may hear God's voice but that doesn't mean I'm in any hurry to be a martyr. So I'll keep my enemies as far
away as possible, if it's okay with you.
I wish . . . I wish I could say I had more friends than enemies. I wish I could say I had friends. I know people, sure. I've met hundreds
of people. Even delivered messages to a lot of them. But I don't stay in any one place. I move around a lot. Wherever the Voice sends me.
So I don't really get a chance to make friends. There are a few people who care about me. People who might actually miss me if I was gone.
But I don't see them too often. It's the moving around thing. And, well, I'm not the safest person to know. Because of my enemies. I'd
rather not put the few friends I have in any danger. So I stay away. That's my choice, by the way. Not theirs.
No, I wouldn't say I have more friends than enemies. I wish it were different.
