If you could invent a holiday, what and when would it be? What special traditions would take place on that day?
We don't have holidays any more. At least, not nationally or universally. Every state, every town, is it's own country. It's own domain.
Some celebrate the old holidays or versions of them. Others have made up their own. I know of at least two that don't celebrate anything at
all because they're a "wasteful" use of time that can be better used working. Those last two are a feudal states. No surprise there, huh?
Too many governments or lack of government.
So I wouldn't invent a holiday so much as reinstitute one. I'd bring back Thanksgiving.
The old stories say it was celebrated by the entire nation. All of the United States. And even Canada.
Maybe even other parts of the world. I'm not sure about that. But I'd bring it back. I'd bring back the spirit of the holiday, anyway.
One day in the year to reflect and be thankful for being alive. For surviving the Big Death. For carrying on. A holiday where
everyone can come together friends, family, maybe even antagonists in unity and peace. A single day a year with no animosity
or antagonism. No fighting. No death. Just a celebration of life. Being thankful for life.
