What's better: democracy or monarchy?
Monarchy: a government having a hereditary chief of state with life tenure and powers varying from nominal to absolute.
Democracy: a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a
system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections.
Suffice to say, I am building alliances across the country between Thunder Mountain and other communities and groups. I believe thoroughly
in democracy, and the right of the people to determine the best form of governance for their own lives. I do not believe in the power of
one person to lead, and determine the best course of action for all. Especially if that person has been given their political power as
the result of the circumstances of their birth. Being born should not give one person the inherent authority to determine the actions
and course of life of others.
In Thunder Mountain, we currently run under a modified democracy, where Council convenes to determine decisions for Thunder Mountain. I
am pushing Council more and more to make decisions without using me as the final determining authority.
But democracy existed prior to the Big Death, and not all persons were accorded the same and equal rights, due to prejudicial and discriminatory
beliefs. Democracy did not allow each voice to be heard, only those voices that had power. I do not want this mutated democracy to exist in our
collective human future. I believe in a true democracy where each and every person should have an equal say in determining the outcomes of
civilization.
